How to Keep a Mummy

Well, this is a weird one.

Sora is a student with an adventurous father who tends to send him monsters in the post. Typically these have been rather horrific things that have needed to be fought back out of the door, but this time, he's been sent "Mii-kun", a tiny Egyptian mummy.

Thus far, we've no idea what Mii-kun actually is, as he/she/it would be far too small to be a mummified human. Unless it's a fetus. Always a cheerful thought.

So, effectively we've got life with a mummy. Which tends to behave like a cross between a dog, a cat and a sulky child.

Don't ask what it's crying.

The mummy tends to be a rather silly little thing, wanting to always stay close to Sora and emulate what he's doing. It tends to be rather emotionally fragile, which results in the show being more than a little sappy.

"Please let me cut things."

This isn't helped by the rather sadistic nature of Sora's best friend Tazuki, who tends to enjoy messing with Mii-kun a bit too much, or Kaede, Sora's possibly insane sister. (She tends to either be in obsessive coding mode, or weirdly loved-up whenever she wears glasses. I'm sure more will come of it.)

Not going to ask why she has a gas mask just lying around.

It hardly counts as high drama, but that's not really the point of this. It's just a fairly light programme about someone looking after a pet. (Unless it suddenly goes bonkers when the other various cute monsters turn up.)

Not particular amazing, but has enough "what the hell" moments to enjoy it as a little palate cleanser between some of the more extravagant things on at the minute.

Recommended.
