Audio Drama Debut - Transcript - S02E32

All of the words said out loud for S02E32 of Audio Drama Debut, my podcast showcasing new audio drama, fiction and RPG trailers.

F/X - Generic market sounds.

The Librarian: Three for a pound, three for a pound! Come and take a look, three for a pound!

Hello there! Welcome to my stall. Lovely day, isn't it? Can I interest you in some of my amazing products?

Look at them all laid out here. Beautiful, aren't they?

What can I interest you in?

Audio fiction? Good lord, how did you hunt me down here?

You followed the trail of dropped dramas, books, stories, actual plays and a few other things? Very clever. I guess I'd better go and pick them up at the end of my shift.

Excuse me - Hello madam, are you interested? Yes, they're a very good deal, aren't they? Three for a pound, so that's a standard pair and every set comes with a spare.

No, it's just a spare left one.

Well, that's simple, just don't lose the right one. Alright, never mind, bye then.

Anyway, where were we? Oh yes - I found myself a bit short of money this week, as I had purchased this show about a woman trying to run scams, this one about an incompetent television personality, and this one about a farmgirl trying to win a poetry competition.

So I've started this second job. It means I get a little extra on my wages, and I can fit it in around being a Librarian.

Well yes, I should be in the Library right now, but you found me, didn't you? And if one person can manage it, I'm sure others can. So I can do my job from out here. You just tell me what shows you're interested in, and at the end of the day, after I've packed up, I'll go and get them, and then you can come back here and get them tomorrow. Well okay then, next week.

And no, I can't see a conflict of interest. They're very different fields. My main job is finding excellent new podcasts to listen to. This side "hustle" is selling personal protective equipment. I don't think there's any overlap whatsoever.

Speaking of, can I interest you in a set? They're probably the best earplugs on the market. Cut out 98% of all sound. You won't hear a thing through these.

Tell you what, here, have a free sample. I've got a load of righthanded ones loose in this box for some reason, so take a couple of those, and see what you think.

And I suppose, since you're here, I could let you on the trailer machine. I brought it with me, as it makes a great table. I think I've got four you can listen to.

First, Spectral Evidence. Birdie is a trans girl and aspiring journalist on the precipice of adulthood who prepares to leave her hometown of Wyrm Harbor. Trailblazing a path of success for herself after unimaginable personal tragedy, she is halted in her tracks by a string of disappearances - again. Finding herself saddled with unpredictable and dangerous magical abilities, she stumbles to navigate a new world of mystery she has no intention of leaving unsolved.

The Librarian: Then, The Grove. When she's asked to present at the company's flagship conference, graduate developer Mira Fisher must face her biggest fear - public speaking. But life at the world's coolest, biggest, wealthiest tech company is not as it seems. In the atrium of ornamental trees, ancient, mythical forces are waking that will change Mira's destiny and grant her a terrifying gift.

The Librarian: And Black Box. Joel McHale and Kelsey Grammer lead an all-star cast in this adventure series with the retro vibes of Stranger Things and time travel antics of Back to the Future. When four teenagers discover the wreckage of a crashed time machine, they’re thrust into a conspiracy that threatens time itself.

The Librarian: And finally, Jackie the Ripper. The infamous Whitechapel murders, retold. A five-part comedy-drama.

The Librarian: Right, that's your lot for this week. I said "Right, that's your lot for this week"! I said...take the earplugs out! The ear...look! See, I'm miming! See! Take the earplugs ... thank you.

Told you they were good.
