Nish Kumar is back for a second series, doing his one man version of the Now Show. (Nearly one man. Sarah Campbell continues to drop in as the roving correspondent/source of chaos.)

The format does rather make this an all or nothing programme, in that if you don't like Nish Kumar, you are going to have a miserable time. (Though even if you don't, I suggest downloading it anyway and skipping to the 13 minute mark, to listen to Sarah Campbell's visiting a dominatrix. This is an exploration of the philosophical argument for BDSM as a method of learning how to accept we have no control over the geopolitical landscape. (Definitely not a tenuous excuse.) Various shows have done this over the years, and it always tends to be funny (though you always wonder which of them are secretly enjoying it). This example was particularly hilarious.)

Obviously the show is politically heavy, which does mean it can occasionally come off as a little preachy. This is also a bit of a strength, as it does seem to be delving slightly deeper into the detail of the various reported stories than satire often does. And since it's all through Nish's mouth, it's likely to align pretty closely to his own opinion. Again, bit of a personal preference problem, in that if you're in rough agreement with him, likely to enjoy it.

I must be, as I was terribly excited to see it back. It's consistently funny, and occasionally has some really standout moments (eg sexy antics) and I've no intention of skipping the rest of the series.

Highly recommended.
