Succubus Blues
Richelle Mead - Succubus Blues

Right, back to a bit of Urban Fantasy. This is the first of the Georgina Kincaid series, about a centuries-old succubus who doesn't really enjoy preying on men for their life force. This means she does her best to only "romance" men of low character, resulting in a dating life that is a little bit lacking.

Until Seth Mortensen, her favourite author and Roman, a charming academic move to town. And she's suddenly caught in a love triangle. Which drags on a bit. (Although the love triangle does seem to keep threatening to spread.)

The book isn't bad, but it's not amazing either. It is a bit too heavy on the romance side for my liking, and tends to be a bit too conflict free in that it never feels like Georgina is every really struggling to achieve anything. She can more or less get away with murder (which is a slight problem when immortals around her keep dying).

That is apparently the main plot, but it's a bit pushed to one side by the constant worrying about what that meaningful look a boy just gave her meant.

It's readable, and if you like your UF on the paranormal romance side, it's probably for you. It's not for me enough that I'm not going to read the rest of the series.

Not recommended.
